City Hall

City Hall

Today’s city hall is located in City Hall Square in the center of Copenhagen and it was built between 1892 and 1905, it is the headquarters of the municipal council and the mayor .

The building was inaugurated in 1905 and designed by the architect Martin Nyrop in the National romantic style but it is largely inspired on the Sienna City Hall, in Italy.

The front is dominated by a glided statue of Bishop Absalon above the balcony and is richly ornamented. The clock tower stands at 105.6m or 345 feet tall and is one of the tallest buildings in the Copenhagen Skyline.

In addition to the tower clock, the City Hall also houses Jens Olsen’s World Clock.
